Ashramam Updates 20-05-2011

H.H is now back in Chennai Ashramam, after His camp at Uthiramerur. Please get a copy of Sri Ranganatha Paduka  for detailed News and news updates about Ashramam. Srimath Andavan's tour programme is published in the Vaikasi issue of the monthly magazine.

Kanchipuram Sri Varadaraja Perumal Koil Brahmothsavam - andavan yahoogroups mailings are appearing everyday with reports and photos. 105th Tirunakshatram function of Srimath Tirukkudanthai Andavan Swamigal went off very well at Chennai Ashramam premises on 12th April, 2011. Srimath Andavan blessed several hundreds of devotees assembled on that day. Several Ubhaya Vedantha Vidwans were at the dias,at which time " Maalai mariyaadais" from several Divya Desams were  submitted to H.H. New book releases were also made by H.H. Towards the end, H.H. gave his Anugraha Bhashanam, which was recorded and will be made available in the web site shortly in youtube link. The function ended with  Sri Paduka Charities presenting  Acharyan Sambhavanai 

In connection with this Tirunakshatram function, H.H. honoured on the evening of 8th April,2011 four eminent personalities, who have life time achievement in their respective fields of service to the Society at large, with the titles of " SEVA RATHNA ". The dignitories getting the honours  on the evening of 10th April at 06 30 PM at Ashramam premises with the blessings of H.H. The names are Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, Rearch Scientist , Dr. Shantha of Adyar Cancer Institute, Dr. S S Badrinath, Shankar Netralaya, Sri Ramakrishnan, of Amar Seva Trust, Ayikkudi, Tirunelveli.

!05th Tirunakshatram of Tirukkudanthai Andavan was celebrated on a grand scale at Chennai Andavan Ashramam, in the immediate presence of H.H. Sri Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan Programmes started 3 days prior to that with Veda Grantha and divya prabhanda paaraayanams by hundreds of Veda & Prabanda Pundits, I had the opportunity to take a few video shots on

10th August and on the Tirunakshatram day, 12th April,2011. Hundreds of devotees gathered on that day and had the opportunity to get theertha prasadams, Sri Chatari, Srimath Andavan's Anugraha Bhashanams and manthratchadai. " Maalai mariyaadais from various divya desams and temples were submitted on that day.

Srimath Andavan departs Chennai on 05-05-2011 for Uthiramerur and camps there till 15th May,2011 In between H.H. attends to Singanur Temple Samprokshanam on 08-05-2011 and Velamur Temple Raja Gopura Samprokshanam, scheduled for 13-05-2011.

Srimath Andavan's 77th Tirunakshatram will be celebrated at Bangalore Sripuram Ashramam this year on 4th June, 2011

In connection with this Tirunakshatram function, H.H. will be honouring four eminent personalities, who have life time achievement in their respective fields of service to the Society at large, with the titles of " SEVA RATHNA ". The dignitories getting the honours  on the evening of 10th April at 06 30 PM at Ashramam premises with the blessings of H.H. The names are Dr. M.S. Dear Swamins,
Adiyen is privileged & authorised to inform all Sishyas & Abhimanis that HH
- with the Grace of the Divya Dhampathi & the Poorvacharyas' - is almost
normal. There is no cause whatsoever for any alarm -
HH has been performing Perumal & Paduka Aradhanams without ANY BREAK all
these days.

  On the morning of 2-01-2011, HH had a problem with LV Side due to high BP,
  This caused breathlessness & severe discomfort,
  Dr Bhaskaran, an eminent Cardiologist who treated HH SrimadThirukkudanthai Andavan  since December 1982, immediately rushed &
  undertook emergency measures to control the situation,
  Dr Mukundan, an eminent Cardio Vascular Surgeon {& a once nephewof HH in His Poorvasrama} rushed from Bangalore,
  They had detailed review of the matter & undertook a measured course of treatment,
  HH did NOT stop Aradhanams even on 02-01-2011!!The condition came under control gradually,
  By Sankaranthi 2011, the situation was stabilised BUT some tests showedthat the Creatinine & Potassium values were higher than permitted,
  Two more senior Doctors, one a Nephrologist, Dr Rajagopal Seshadri &another a Gastroentrologist, Dr Ganesh were called in for consultations,
  A strong regimen of diet control + some changes in the medicines were prescribed by this Team,
  By that week end it was found - after we changed the Lab - that even theCreatinine & Potassium were very much under control as were the Ultra
  Sound Scan for the abdomen & the Chest XRay - this was confirmed by
  another premier hospital's lab also,
  The Specialists had advised that - with some mild relaxation/s - thestrict regimen of diet & drugs must continue -
  HH has, due to the improvement, started even walking outside the Asramamwithout physical support,
  HH continues to perform Aradhanams & will - with Blessings of the Padukas - restart Samasrayanam & Saranagathi from Sunday the 30thJanuary 2011.
  All Sishyas & Abhimanis are earnestly requested not to tax HH to relaxfor a while; the discipline shown by HH in response to the Specialists'
  regimen & controls is simply amazing! No fruits, no fresh vegetables, nojuice of any kind etc., & above all NO Ayurvedic Drugs!!

An important annoncement for all Sishyas of our Ashramam, particularly those residing in Villivakkam, Anna Nagar, Ambattur, Kilapuk, Shenoy Nagar and Ayanavaram areas of Chennai.

Please be informed that His Holiness Srimath Anadavan is visiting Sri Rama Anjaneyar & Sri Srinivasar Temple located in Tirumangalam Road, that is the road leading to Anna Nagar from Nathamuni Theater in Villivakkam on, Sunday, 31st October, 2010, at 4 P.M..

To brief you on this Temple ; This temple has come up nearly 18 years ago, with the great efforts of the famous Ubhaya Vedanta Vidwan and the disciple of Sri Kozhiyalam Swamy, Sri Veerapuram Krishnamachariar. He has just completed 90 years and entered his 91st year. At this age, he preferred to hand over the temple to Srimath Andavan Ashramam, as he and his family members are now sishyas of our Ashramam.

This temple is located in a very small area of half a ground of prime land. 3 tier Raja Gopuram in the front, Sri Srinivasa Perumal Moolavar and Uthsavar with Ubhaya Nachimars, Alarlemangai Thaayaar Moolavar & Uthsavar, Uthsavar Ramar, Seethai, Laksmanar, Anjaneyar Uthsavar & Moolavar, Chakrathazhwar & Nrisimhar both Uthsavar &Moolavar. These are all installed in this small temple.

As per his request, H.H. has accepted to take over this Temple to come under our Ashramam fold.

On 31st Oct,2010, at 4 PM is making His Ponnadi at the request of Sri Krishnamachariar Swamy. At that time he is handing over the signed documents to H.H. and thus formally handing over the entire Temple to Srirangam Srimath Anadavan Ashramam. From that moment, our Ashramam will administer the temple.

All our sishyas in the surrounding areas as listed above are invited to attend thye function and give a warm welcome to H.H.

For your information this temple will be developed in future with the guidance of H.H. and with the cooperation of all our sishyas,soon will be made as a landmark of our Ashramam in the  West Chennai Neighbourhood

It is announced that H.H. will be performing Mangalaasaasanam of Tiruchanur Sri Padmaavathy Thaayaar Temple on 7th Dec.2009 morning at 9A.M. , Sri Tiruvenkatamudayan on 8th Dec.at 7 A.M. and Sri Govindaraja Perumal Sannathi on 9th Dec. H.H. is likely to return to Chennai on 11th Dec. evening.

It is also announced that H.H. will be leaving Chennai on 6th January,2010, for Hyderabad visit. The camp will be mainly in Kapra Ashramam, but will be visiting Secunderbad Ashramam also in between. H.H is scheduled to return to Chennai only on 11th February,2010

His Holiness this afternoon was given a warm send off by devotees, as He is proceeding on a fairly long tour of Southern districts Of Tamil Nadu. Sri Paduka Charities made Acharyan and Kiankaryabarars Sambavanai this morning, after this mornings Aaraadanams and theerthams. The tour programme is given below.The major event is that H.H.will be attending the entire Yaga Salai programmes, at Oppiliappan Sannathi, as he has been entrusted with that responsibility, during Maha Samprokshanam,scheduled for 8th Feb.2009.Many devotees have very well responded to the appeal from H.H. for raising funds to the extent of Rs 30 lakhs, to meet the Yagasalai expenses.

His Holiness is camping in Chennai Ashramam and H.H. this morning appeared in " Pothigai " TV. channel and conveyed the information on the significance of Pongal and Makara Sankranthi, particularly the very good ancient custom in Tamil Nadu, on Pongal day as well as the following days as Maattu Pongal and the next day as Kaanum Pongal

H.H. is now engaged most of the time in a major activity on behalf of Ashramam. This is the forthcoming Maha Samprokashanam of Sri Oppiliappan Temple,scheduled for February 8th,2009.Sunday. Our Ashramam has been given the responsibilty by HR&CE,of meeting the entire expenses on Yaaga Salai, which will be done as per Vaikanasa Aagamam. H.H. is now mobilising the required funds, which will be anyway between 30 to 40 lakhs of rupees.An appeal on behalf of Ashramam has been issued by Sri Paduka Charities and this message can be viewed in the "New"page of this web site. H.H.is expecting overwhelming support from all devotees as well as well wishers of our Ashramam,around the world, for the grand success of this major effort form Ashramam. His Holiness is recovering very well after the cataract surgery in His both eyes in a span of a week ealy this month. Nithyaradanams are performed as usual and everyday many devotees attend and get Theertha Prasadams from H.H. H.H. is able to read books and granthams even without spectacles. We convey this happy message on the eve of Deepavali

Tomorrow  is Deepavali and His Holiness is conveying His blessings to all devotees on this happy occasion, for a prosperous and happy Deepavali.

A report on Chandragrahana sanam at Tiruppallani on the night of 16^th August, 2008 from Sri Raguveeradayal

Blessed we are to have the parama bhagyam of accompanying  HH Srimad Andavan at his Chandra GrahaNa snanam at Sri Adhi Sethu.

When we accompanied HH's early morning walking on 16th, HH conveyed his decision about GrahaNa snanam. We returned to the Ashramam to find, to the happiness of HH ,around 50 sevarthis, mostly from Mumbai, arrived to have AvaNi Avittam here. When they learned about HH's decision on GrahaNa Snanam they were very glad.
 

By midnight, around 01.30 we all started for Sethukkarai. On Surya GrahaNa day HH waited at the Ashramam till all the sevarthis reached seashore. But on Chandra GrahaNa day, such a parama karuNakaran HH is, he first went the Sethu before the sevarthis reached the shore,personally supervised and  arranged for satisfactory lighting arrangements with 4 gas petromax lights (as there is no light)enabling the sishyas, many of them old, to have a fearless snanam. The sankalpam was performed by Aradhakar KrishNamUrthi Maamaa.
It was a very rich anubhavam to see HH doing snanam braving poor light and very rough sea (PaurNami) and high tides. ”கண்டவர் விண்டிலர்” நிலைதான். And all the nearly 100 sevarthis accompanied HH's Snanam at that time were in ”என்ன தவம் செய்தனம்” என பரவசப்படும் நிலையில். HH waited at those odd hour on the sea shore till all the sishyas get into the vehicle( to ensure the safety of the sevarthis. Such was  his affection for the sishyas.
 

How great Bhagyam we all have in this Chathurmasyam! To bathe alongwith HH even once in the Adhi Sethu, ( Even Sethu Dharsnam itself will accrue innumerable PuNyam in our account totally annihilating all the sins we are determined to commit) Now we had this ahobhagyam THRICE that too within a month! Then நமக்கார் நிகர் இம்மாநிலத்தே”!
 

Thus our Acharya Sarva Bauman has created history in several ways at ThiruppullaaNi! That he is the first Yathi to perform Chathurmasya Sankalpam here at Thiruppullani, is already known to members. He is the first yathi to have SEthu Snanam THRICE. Weather another Yathi will visit Thiruppullani,whether    another Yathi will be here for Sankalpam is not known. Even  if it is decided, will he perform Sankalpam here?   Will both GrahaNams happen in the same month? This situation comes very rarely.

Due to the Anugraham of Srimath Andavan, the last week was eventful. Normally on Adi Amaavaasai days the turn around of Brahmins will be very less (But on Thai Amaavaasai, Brahmins will be in thousands)But this year, the immediate presence of the Acharyan at Sethukkarai-Thiruppullani , Surya Grahanam added to that, several hundreds of Srivaishnava sevarthis turned up here and had the bhagyam of Grahana snanam at Sethukkarai with Srimath Andavan.Bruhaspathi Thiruppullani Sri Rangarajan (Nanga nallur) performed Grahana sankalpam to all assembled there. Then all the devotees had the vimochana snanam at Chakra theerththam along with Srimath Andavan. Adi Pooram, the Thiruvavathara day of Sri Andal, was being celeberated in a grand scale at Thiruppullani till several years back. Due to various reasons, for the past few years, it is limited to Ekantha thirumanjanam to Sri Andal and that's all here. Learning this, the Acharya Sarva Bauman arranged to celeberate it as was done in the past. In the morning, Jagannatha Perumal was brought to Andal Sannidhi , the Divya Thampathis had a visesha alankara thirumanjanam and veku vilakshna goshti. In the evening Perumal and Andal had a Dolothsavam in front of Thayar Sannithi. The entire expenses were borne by Srimath Andavan. And yesterday a Rig vetha patasalai has been started here about which already reported in Yahoo groups.

Accepting the request of the Ramanathapuram Samasthanam Devasthanam, HH Srimath Andavan has ordered for a new Garuda Vahanam for Thiruppullani Temple at a cost of nearly Rupees one lakh and the work is in progress.

Thiruppullani residents , enjoying the sowlabyam of HH daily and overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Ashramam kainkaryaparals, are definitely great bhagyasalis.

Inauguration of Veda Patasalai at Thiruppullani-- Report from Sri Raguveeradayal

Adiyen dasasya vignaapanam. With our most compassionate Acharyan here at Thiruppullani, there are some new events almost daily. Today is a golden day for us here. Srimath Andavan is well known for his concern for veda samrakshanam for which purpose HH is alrady running 9 vetha patasaalaas at places like Srirangam, Thiruchchaanoor, Vaduvuur etc. It is his desire that in down south also a good patasala is a must and hence it is his thiruvuLam to start a patasala at Thiruppullani. Accordingly today a Rig Vetha Patasala has been started here.In the immediate presence of HH Srimath Andavan, Ashramam Srikaryam Veeravalli Ganapaati Desikacharyar Swamin inaugurated the patasalai. Vaduvur Ganapaati Govindachariyar, Chrompettai Jagannaathaachariar, Thirumalai Ashramam manager Raman, Ramanathapuram Tambras president Srinivasan and several others participated. • HH is very happy and contented with the serene atmosphere in that Divya Kshetram,
• Every morning & evening, HH goes for a walk around the Aadi Jagannatha Perumal temple,
• This gives HH a sense of satisfaction that cannot be measured in words & thoughts,
• HH also has Perumal Darshan almost everyday,
• Incidentally all this exercise has wrought a very nice improvement in HH's health,
• HH seems to have lost a good amount of weight with all these calories burnt,
• HH looks very cheerful & totally free of the tiredness that marked His Tiru Muha Vilaasam after the episode of Vertigo in Mumbai in March 2008,
• By the Grace of the Divya Dhampathi & the Poorvacharyas, HH is definitely enjoying much better health,
• Let us all pray to the Almighty to keep HH that way.
• Adiyen thought it worthwhile to record this to reassure all the Sishyas & Abhimanis who have been enquiring all these months about HH's health.
• The 20th Chaatur Maasya Sankalpam Committee has made very good arrangements and are trying their best to fulfill the desire of HH in respect of Land for Patasala Project,
• But they are still short by around Rs. 30 lakhs - adiyen prays that all Sevarthis will pitch in and bridge the gap.

SRIRANGAM SRIMATH ANDAVAN'S 20TH CHATHURMASYA SANKALAPA MAHOTHSAVAM AT THIRUPPULLANI

Dear Srivaishnava perunthakaiyeer and Andavan sishyas in particular,

On behalf of the Srirangam Srimath Andavan's 20th chathurmasya sankalpa committee, we are happy to report the greatest event at Thiruppullani, namely the 20th Chathurmasya sankalpam of Srimath Andavan.

Srimath Andavan arrived at Thiruppullani on the evening of 15th July. HH was given a grand reception at the entrance of the village. The Sri Adhi Jagannaatha Perumal temple staff headed by the executive officer, Ramanathapuram Samasthanam Devasthanam, offered "STHALANGA MARIYATHAI" (Temple honours with Mangala vathyam, Perumal maalai and kaalanji will be offered to select yathis visiting this village. It is always offered to our Andavan) The 20th chathurmasya committee headed by Madurai advocate Sri T.Srinivasaraghavan and accompanied by Secretaries Thirukkurungudi Padmanaban, T.Raguveeradayal, treasurer Dindigul Sudarsan, Nanganallur Parthasarathi ,Madurai Prof. Vasudevan, Madurai LIC Rajagopalan and Vaduvoor Ganapati Govindachar offered Poorna kumbha mariyathai and Sthala abhimanis also offered poorna kumba mariyaathai. From there Srimath Andavan prefered to reach our Ashramam by walk through Sri Adhi Jagannaatha Perumal Temple and or Ashrama Desikan Sannathi. At Desikan Sannathi vAsal HH accepted the poorna kumba mariyathai and Desikan maalai. Alongwith the poorna kumbha mariyathai at the entrance offered by the committee, agraharam ladies offered muthu harathi reception. On 15th morning itself morethan 50 sishyas from various places of Tamilnadu arrived here to receive the Acharyan. As soon as HH entered the Ashramam, Vaduvoor Ganapati Sri Govindachariar and Madurai Prof. Vasudevan offered Swagatha pathrikas separately. Within few minutes Ramanathapuram Samasthanam Sethupathi Sri Kumaran Sethupathi, Madhukkur Raja and Singampatti Zamindhar came to our Ashramam and offered their prayers to HH Srimath Andavan.

On the next day morning, i.e. on Adi maasa piRappu, 300+sishyas arrived on the early morning to accompany Srimath Andavan's neeraattam at Sri Adhi Sethu Srimath Andavan was so gracious enough to wait all sishyas reach the seashore and started the maha sankalpam before the holy dip there. Everybody assembled there was in a jubilant mood. Our ashrama prthama aaraadhakar Krishnamoorthi mama performed the sankalpam followed by kshethra bruhaspathi Lakshmana Sastri. Every sishya knows the gambira thvani of our aaraathakar mama. On that day, the immediate presence of our Andavan and the big assembly of sishyas (which we have never seen before) made him more jubilant . When he recited the sankalpa manthras, even the sound of sea waves were not heard. Then Acharyan had the neeraattam at Adhi Sethu. He lead everybody upto chest deep water and had the theerthavari. All those with Andavan will ever remember that great anubhavam . Acharyan returned to Ashramam and after Padhuka Aradhanam, thatheeyaaraadhanam took place.

On 17th July, the Ramanathapuram Samasthanam Devasthanam Diwan and administrative secretary to Maharani of Ramnad himself turned up at the Ashramamwith full temple honours to invite Srimath Andavan for the mangalasasanam at Sri Adhi Jagannatha Perumal temple . At the entrance of the temple poorna kumbha mariyathai was offered. At Dwaja Sthambam, Sri Satari Mariyathai was offered by Temple Archakas. With Sri Satari leading, Our Andavan did Mangalasasanam at all Sannadhis in the Temple. Since sishyas accompanied him are large in number HH waited in each sannadhi for the sishyas to pray at the sannadhis after his mangalasasanam. Our Andavan is such a karunyamoorthi towards sishyas. While returning from the Temple, he did Mangalasasanam at Ashramam Desikan sannadhi Sri Lakshmi Hayagreeva Perumal and Swami Desikan.

On 18th, the day of Chathurmasya sankalpam the number of sishyas from all over India and a few from overseas also increased to 500+ an assembly of Srivaishnavaites this small village has not witnessed in the recent past. After Padhuka Araadhanam and theertha koshti by 8AM, Mruthsangranam by 9AM, Andavan had thirumudi vilakkam and neeraattam at the holy Chakra theertha pushkarini. It may be remembered here that our Andavan was the first yathi to bathe in this pushkarini which resulted in the pushkarini brimming with water eversince and our starvation for water is now a distant dream of the past. During this interval, our Ashrama Srikaryam veeeravalli Ganapati Desikacharyar swami, sri veeraraghavachariyar swami and Yamunachariar swami made discourses. Before delivering his Anugraha bhashanam, in tradition with our Ashramam, HH Srimath Andavan released four books on the stage. Acharya Ramamrutham part two Tamil and the same translated in English by Smt Kalyani Krishnamachari of USA, "Maniyunthu PullANiyE" (a sthala purANam of ThiruppullANi,edited and published by Shreyas ads Sri Kalyanaraman and Rangarajan brothers )and a small booklet "Visishtadvaitham" by Sri Yamunachariar. Acharyan's Anugraha bhaashanam which started with Swami Desikan's "PArAvAra " was a most scintillating one. On the day of Sankalpam, all the events were carried out EXACTLY AT THE TIMES ANNOUNCED BY OUR ACHARYAN ON THE PREVIOUS DAY. It was like a military discipline.

 
And we, the committee members, are very very happy not only because this is the FIRST Chathurmasyam at Thiruppullani but this is the first Chathurmasyam in the history when the sishyas assembled even two days before the event and enjoyed their great bhagyam to be with the Acharyan for three consecutive days. We thank those attended for their great cooperation with us. This is a small village and we made arrangements whatever is possible here. There might have been deficiencies. But, those who were here on all the three days, several of whom accustomed to very great and modern conveniences, adjusted to the situation and extended their cooperation to make this once-in-a-life event ever remembered . Their Devotion to Andavan and their Acharya Bhakthi made them determined lot to neglect all comforts and conveniences.

Our special thanks to Sri Ahobila Mutt authorities who, within a short span of three days converted the cement flooring with granite and plastering the walls with sparkling tiles so that those who came here for this special event can stay more comfortably. Their local manager Sri Muthukrishnan even cancelled his trip to Ahobilam
to take care of those staying at the Mutt. Similarly, Sri Jayarama Bhattar , in charge of Sri Vanamaamalai Mutt also offered his help for those stayed there. We thank him also. The kshethravasis also helped the visitors in several ways. "Dinamani" "Dinakaran" and "Dinamalar" papers covered the events. It is needless to say that all the abovesaid functions went off very well and without any hastles ONLY with the BLESSINGS OF our Poorvacharyars Anugrahams and the Blessings of H.H.
